In today’s post, I’ll be reviewing the Smashbox X-Rated Mascara. This is another one of the sample sizes I found when cleaning out my vanity a month or so ago and I’m finally getting to the last of the samples!
Now to get into what Smashbox claims this mascara will do. According to the website:
This ultra-buildable mascara lets you easily take your lashes from PG to X-Rated in seconds. Our triple threat brush loads up the maximum amount of our fiber-loaded formula to build your look. With each swipe, lashes are isolated, magnified and mega-coated for hyper, thick voluptuous lashes that photograph flawlessly in any close-up. No double-dipping required.
To get a baseline, here’s what my lashes currently look like without mascara.
And here’s what my lashes look like with two coats of the Smashbox X-Rated mascara.
I hadn’t really heard anything about this mascara before trying it out. I love when I get to experience a product without any bias or opinions from other people. With that being said, I was highly impressed and absolutely LOVE everything about this mascara!
The wand has a triangle shape where there are 3 lines of bristles that stick out further than the rest of the wand. I just wish I had gotten a better picture of this because this shape is extremely helpful in really getting into the lashline to truly coat the lashes from root to tip. The wand also wasn’t too big so I could easily apply the mascara to my lower lashes too.
The formula is the perfect texture, not too wet and not too dry. The website says that this is a fiber formulated mascara and I can definitely tell the difference when I applied this mascara! It added just the right amount of volume and length in my opinion. Plus, my lashes weren’t clumpy or spidery at all! And, as a contact wearer, I had no problem with eye irritation.
As far as performance, I wore this look for about 8 hours on the day I tested it out. I’m very pleased to report that I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging and I had one of my best lash days! It even wore nicely on my bottom lashes, which is a great test for me since I rely on bottom lash mascaras most days. This mascara has definitely made it into my rotation of mascaras.
Overall, I would highly recommend this mascara to anyone and everyone.
Until next time,
