IMATS LA 2018 Haul

Hello everyone!

Last weekend I attended IMATS in Pasadena, CA with my sister and best friend. This was my third time attending and it is always so much fun! If you haven’t heard of this convention, IMATS stands for International Makeup Artist Trade Show. For a small ticket fee, you get access to a whole convention center full of discounted makeup, a magical place for any makeup lover! Because I spent my weekend away and wasn’t able to work on a more involved post, this week I’ll be sharing what I purchased while at the convention.

Let’s jump in!

The first thing everyone who attended got was a free sample size lippie from Kat Von D.

The following are in no particular order. I don’t remember the exact order I visited all these booths. 😜 I truly took advantage of the fact that just about everything was discounted and most of the items I purchased are actually items I swear by and use on a daily basis.

Benefit only had a small selection of their products and if you spent $80+ you received a freebie. I chose this cute makeup bag!

I stocked up on my fave lashes – trios and Wispies style 122. I also wanted to try the doubled trios so I got a couple boxes of those too!

I swear by the Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper and ever since I started testing a different lash growth serum, I wanted to try this one. I was also interested in the mascara. Luckily, they were selling the pair at a huge discount and I even got a couple samples with my purchase!

At Morphe, I got some things I’ve been DYING to try and tiny scissors to trim my false lashes.

I also purchased a huge bottle of my all-time favorite daily brush cleaner. I also got a small spray bottle that I can refill so it’s easier to apply to my brushes.

At the Frends Beauty booth, I stocked up on the Beauty Blender Cleanser Pro Solid Cleanser, a 6 pack of pro beauty blenders, the Loving Tan Bronzing Mousse, and the Applicator Mitt. I’ve heard this is the best self-tanner out there right now and with spring and summer on the way, I wanted to try it out!

I bought this lash glue at last year’s IMATS solely because the brand name is the same as my last name. 😜 Luckily it’s amazing lash glue so I decided to buy both the clear and black formulas this year.

The next item we came across by just randomly wandering the convention hall. It’s basically glitter suspended in a very thick hair gel and can be used on the face, body, and hair! It’s absolutely AMAZING! It stays just about anywhere you put it without the stickiness or crunchiness of hair gel. We’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World and we thought this stuff would be amazing to wear while we’re there!

I got a new black gel liner to go with the new super skinny liner brush I bought from Hakuhodo.

I stocked up on my favorite makeup setting spray from Skindinavia and the purchase came with a free mini size of the recovery spray and more glitter from the same brand as the glitter earlier in the post.

I picked up a powder brush from It Cosmetics. Aside from Hakuhodo brushes, It Cosmetics makes the softest brushes on the market and couldn’t resist the powder brush to go with my dual-ended foundation/ concealer brush!

I’m VERY slowly growing my collection of Hakuhodo brushes. I purchased two highlighting brushes last year and decided to get a crease brush and super skinny liner brush this year.

Beautylish was selling almost everything Jeffree Star makes so I picked up a couple more items from this year’s holiday collection!

I originally was just going to purchase the Tartelette matte palette but I had to step out of line so my sister purchased it for me and added a  couple extra lippies to my order! I haven’t tried them yet but I’m excited to see what they look like!

I couldn’t resist this super cute headband either! It’s made to keep your hair out of your face while applying skincare, masks, or makeup and it was pretty inexpensive.

Finally, I had been in the market for a straightening brush for a while now as a faster alternative to straighten my naturally curly hair but couldn’t decide on which one I wanted to buy. Well I’m glad I waited because when I saw the demonstration of this Enzo Milano straightening comb, I couldn’t believe the amazing results it made with just one pass on a thick chunk of my friend’s hair! I had never seen a straightening brush give results like that in one pass. I was sold immediately and this was the one impulse buy I made this year. I’ve tested it out on a couple face-framing pieces of my hair but it has been foggy and raining here in Northern California so I don’t bother straightening my hair if it’s just going to be ruined. I can’t wait to try it out on my full head of hair!

And that’s it for IMATS LA 2018!

Have you been to any of the IMATS that have been hosted around the world? If so, what was your experience? I’d love to hear about what this trade show is like in other states/ countries!

Until next time,
