e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid Eyeshadow Review

Hello everyone!

I’ve been eyeing these liquid shadows for a while now. Since many drugstore brands are really stepping up their product game, I decided to purchase a couple shades. There are 6 shades in the e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid Eyeshadow collection, which includes: Brushed Copper, Cool Steel, Liquid Gold, Molten Bronze, Mocha Metal, and Rose Gold. They retail for $4 each and I purchased Brushed Copper and Rose Gold from my local Target.

The e.l.f. website describes this product as follows:

Wash this hydrating liquid eyeshadow over lids for a vibrant, metallic look (and an irresistible cooling effect). The formula is infused with Purified Water and Vitamin E to help hydrate.

And the suggested application is:

  • Apply color directly over the eyelid using the wand.
  • Gently blend out using your finger or a blending brush.
  • Allow it to dry before applying additional color.
  • The liquid eyeshadow can also be used as an eyeshadow primer that intensifies powder eyeshadows.

Here is the look I achieved using Rose Gold on the lid and Brushed Copper in the inner corner. I applied the product to my lids using the doe-foot applicator and blended it out with a small, flat shader brush. I applied them over an eyeshadow primer since I wasn’t planning on going over them with powder eyeshadow.

I  really enjoyed these shadows. They were very easy to apply and just as easy to blend. I did notice upon application that they lost a bit of the metallic quality when blended out but I just waited for the first coat to dry and applied a second, thin coat and it brought back the metallicness. I wore this look for about 4 or 5 hours and I didn’t notice any creasing. It probably helped that I was wearing an eyeshadow primer. 😋 Although to give any shadows a fair chance, I always use a primer since I have slightly oily lids. I didn’t notice any hydrating properties in the short time I wore them but I will definitely be wearing them more often to test the skincare properties of these eyeshadows.

Overall, I highly recommend these shadows and can’t wait to get some of the other shades. I’m especially excited to get the darker shades since they’re probably great for smokey eye looks!

Have you tried these liquid shadows? If you have, what do you think of them?

Until next time,
