Today I’m reviewing some of the products from the collaboration between Pixi Beauty and Aspyn Ovard. I’ve been a big fan of Aspyn’s for a while and love her content. She recently collaborated with Pixi Beauty on a collection of 3 Glow-y Powders and a Lash/ Brow kit called Eye Accents.
The Glow-y powder comes in three shades: London Lustre, Rome Rose, and Santorini Sunset and retail for $16 each. According to the Pixi Beauty website,
This velvety soft highlighter adds a hint of glow, creating a luminous effect. Natural mineral powder hydrates and reflects light to brighten complexion. Created by Aspyn for all skin tones.
The only problem I have with this description is that one of these powders is a blush so I’m slightly misled within the first four words of the description. However, regardless of that, these powders look beautiful.
I’m wearing the shades Rome Rose and Santorini Sunset. I really wanted to try London Lustre but my Target was out of that shade at the time I purchased these. The powders are beautiful in the swatch but when I applied the blush shade to my cheeks, I had a hard time getting it to show up. The highlight shade, on the other hand, is AMAZING! It applies beautifully and looks great on my skin tone. I was afraid this shade would be too dark but I think it’s perfect. The only small downside is that the powders have quite a bit of kickback. But other than that the highlighter performs wonderfully.
The Lash/ Brow kit is called Eye Accents and includes the lower lash mascara and the brow tamer and retails for $15. According to the website,
Two products for finishing off defining the eye area in one kit created in collaboration with Aspyn Ovard. The Lower Lash Mascara is a water resistant formula with added vitamin E and panthenol that stays on all day, even on sensitive & runny eyes. Brow Tamer is a clear brow gel that sets, shapes, and holds unruly brows in place all day!
After watching Aspyn’s reveal video of these products, she said that she liked to use the lower lash mascara on both her top and bottom lashes. So, that’s what I’ve chosen to do too.
For me, this didn’t work the way I wanted for the top lashes. It’s a very dry mascara, which is perfect for the bottom lashes since I usually only apply one coat to my bottom lashes. On the top lashes, it dried so quickly that by the time I went in for a second coat, it was almost impossible to make my lashes look good. It kind of just added color to my lashes and didn’t do anything as far as length or volume. To make my lashes look halfway decent, I needed to go in with a lash comb to get rid of the clumps in my top lashes. It was probably a mistake to apply a lower lash mascara to the top lashes but since Aspyn liked it I thought I’d give it a try. The wand is so small and I absolutely love it for my bottom lashes but I’ll stick with a different mascara for my top lashes.
The brow tamer is also amazing! In my opinion, it’s very similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel. It perfectly sets my brows in place without making them crunchy or pasted to my face.
Overall, I would highly recommend the highlight shades of the Glow-y Powder and the Eye Accents set.
Until next time,
