Post Grad life has not been what I expected and I never thought I would say this, but I actually think I miss school! In college, I always said I wasn’t going to go straight to grad school because I was done with school, however, walking around the campus this past month has made me rethink my decision. Nothing is set in stone yet, I’m just waiting to see where life takes me.
While waiting, I was introduced to a wonderful company, called Arbonne, by a sorority sister. Arbonne is a health and wellness company that is all natural, vegan, and follows European guidelines in product production. This has been one of the best things to happen since I graduated. I had been doing research on all the harmful chemicals in todays health and wellness products that are sold by well-known companies such as Maybelline, Herbal Essence, and Neutrogena. Unlike common companies in the U.S., Arbonne follows European guidelines, as stated earlier. This means that there are about 1400 ingredients that are banned from use in skincare products! Meanwhile, the U.S. only regulates around 10-14 ingredients….
One of the most disturbing facts I learned in my research is that a popular ingredient in many products is something called mineral oil. Sounds harmless, right? However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Mineral oil is actually a liquid by-product of refining crude oil to make gasoline and other petroleum products. This means we are rubbing gasoline by-product all over our bodies! And even more terrifying is that baby oil is just mineral with an added perfume. So mineral oil intake starts at a very young age. Furthermore, since it is the largest organ on the body, any ingredient put on the skin is absorbed and can be found in the blood stream within 30 seconds!
Upon learning this, I’ve slowly been switching my products with Arbonne products. Since I don’t want to waste too much money, (poor college student over here) I am continuing to use my old products until I run out.
I also decided to become an Independent Consultant when I learned about the company. I had been looking for a natural alternative to my staple products and I’m loving the products I’ve switched so far. My favorite so far are the lipsticks! All lipsticks I’ve ever tried in the past, both drugstore and high-end, have had a variety of unpleasant scents but I powered through them because I loved the color so much. I no longer have to do that with the Arbonne lipsticks because they all smell like real fruits! And that’s because they are formulated with fruit in order to create the pigment/ color. Another popular product is the 7-day cleanse. I have not yet tried this yet but it has some amazing benefits.
